"Residents Have The Answers: Improving Quality of Life in Long Term Care"
This useful video and guide will walk you through an easy-to-follow four-step process that will help you achieve a better quality of life in your facility.

"Retrain, Don't Restrain" 39 minutes
This program includes everything needed to implement an effective restraint-reduction program. A clinical coordinator’s guide describes the implementation process. The student workbook features case studies and can be used in conjunction with restraint-review meetings. A 39-minute video shows excerpts from review meetings and demonstrates environmental assessments. Program also includes 10 student workbooks.

"Body Mechanics: Ergonomic Training for Long Term Care Staff" 26 minutes
Ideal for nurse assistants, this 26-minute video demonstrates the safest techniques for lifting, moving, and transferring residents. It also reviews the anatomy of the back to illustrate the need for proper body mechanics.

"Keeping Nursing Facility Residents Safe: A Training Program for the Prevention of Abuse, Mistreatment, and Neglect" 11 minutes
(American Health Care Association) The program incorporates role playing, group discussions, intervention strategies, a stress-relief exercise, and a pre and post test as instructional and assessment tools. An instructor’s manual is included.

"Fire Safety in Nursing Facilities" 20 minutes
(American Health Care Association) This comprehensive new program is based on the Life Safety Code, and it has been field tested in six states across the country. The results of these tests showed that staff significantly improved their knowledge and attitudes toward fire safety, and instructors found the materials easy to use. Features these two videos: "Flashover: Point of No Return", and "Human Behavior in Fires." The components of the program include an instructor's kit, featuring a manual and two videos, and a participants course book.

"The Awesome Power" (Flash Floods) * 23:30 minutes
This video portrays life-threatening situations brought about by flash floods and how to present safety rules for persons living in flood prone areas. This video can be rented for only postage to your facility.

"Terrible Tuesday" (Tornadoes) * 17:15 minutes
This video was produced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This video tells the story of one of the country's biggest tornadoes, which struck Wichita Falls, Texas in 1979. This powerful production reports the impression of survivors, shows the city's annual disaster drill, and features remarkable tornado pictures. Also including "do's and don'ts" of surviving a tornado. This video could be coordinated with having someone from the community come in and speak on tornadoes.
